GREENVILLE, SC (April 19, 2010) - Marina Ponton, acupuncturist and owner of Greenville Natural Health Center, has completed a five-day advanced clinical training program for the diagnosis and treatment of depression using acupuncture and complementing therapies such as topical herbs and breathing and movement exercises.
The Non-Somatic Extraordinary Vessel Acupuncture Training Program was taught by Miami acupuncture physician Daniel J. Atchison-Nevel, co-founder of the South Florida Healing Arts Center, one of the area’s first collaborative health centers. Nevel has served as academic dean and instructor for acupuncture colleges, and conducted research and published studies on the use of Acupuncture’s Extraordinary Vessels in the treatment of depression.
“Research on this approach in the treatment of clinical depression was conducted in conjunction with Florida International University and published in the 1990’s,” said Ponton. “Interest continues to grow nationally and worldwide, and I look forward to incorporating these diagnostic and treatment methods into my practice.”
